A printer’s error. The layers meant to align fall out of sync and the image doubles at the edge, faintly, like something seen twice. In the studio it counts as a fault. I take it up as a method where the record and the real can share a frame without agreeing. Ghost Projects. Philippine infrastructure certified complete and never built. The certificate is genuine, so is the signature. Only the thing is missing, and the paper trail is engineered to stand where it should be and passes inspection. What was claimed and what was never are filed under the same name. Print them one over the other and they will not close. The same place, the same promise, refusing to settle into one image. I come to this history from a diasporic distance, after the fact, inheriting a place through what was passed down to me. It also arrives on paper. I keep two versions of it, the one I was given and the one I built from it, laid one over the other, slightly apart.
